Banks came to join the Shadow Hill Retrievers family November 2023, to further his training in the field and continue his campaigning in the show ring. Banks earned his AKC Grand Championship and ranked as #5 Boykin Spaniel in the 2020 AKC National Owner-Handled Series. Watching Banks work a field is poetry in motion, with a strong natural desire to hunt and style that is smooth and effortless to watch. Banks’ dam “Kit” was the first Boykin Spaniel in history to ever attain both Master Hunter Retriever and Master Hunter Upland titles. Having shown beautifully at Westminster 2024, Banks is a once in a lifetime dog and a powerful representation of the Boykin Spaniel breed. Owned by Leslie Kern, Brian Parker and myself, I look forward to continuing Banks’ legacy of excellence.

Roux earned his Seasoned Hunting Retriever title by the age of 2, and spends the Fall and Winter seasons as my personal hunting dog and a “fan favorite” flushing dog for guided upland plantation hunts. Rougaroux is a heat-seeking missile in the field… fast, stylish, gritty and tenacious; easily being one of my most enjoyable dogs to watch work. At the 2024 and 2025 SBSC Winter Roustabouts, Roux took 1st place— finding, flushing and retrieving all three quail in under 3 minutes. Roux is as equally talented of a waterfowl retriever as he is a flushing dog. He is highly intelligent and a natural problem solver, handling well through heavy cover and thick lily pads. Obtaining hunt test titles, multiple field trial placements and the conformation Champion title, Roux is the epitome of a versatile dog and the quintessential Boykin Spaniel.

Powerfully built, Rochambeaux commands attention with his movement and confidence… bringing undeniable presence with him wherever he goes. He is a consistent, “big motor” dog who spends his weekends as a flusher for upland plantation hunts. Rochambeaux was one of the 13 dogs to complete the fifth and final series of Novice at the 2024 BSS National Championship at the incredibly young age of 14 months, out of 78 dogs. He hit the ground running in the show ring as well, earning his first AKC 5-pt Major Win by going Winners Dog at merely 6 months old and finishing his AKC Championship at the age of 1 year— earning an OH Group 2 in a large sporting group the day he became a Champion. With type you’ll treasure, Rochambeaux’s profound natural ability comes from generations upon generations of real hunting Boykin Spaniels.

Forest is sired by our own Banks, and is everything we hoped to produce from this breeding! Currently in training with Axieom Gundogs in New York, Forest took well to the upland game from a very young age. Cross-training is something we value highly, and Forest’s versatility excelling as both a waterfowl retriever and flushing spaniel is what we strive to produce. We look forward to the many adventures that are to come with Forest… thank you Mark & Ginny Williams for entrusting us with this special boy.
